Happy Chinese New Year

Its the year of the dragon. I wonder what that means? Personally, I have good feelings about this year ahead...after all, I am going to Europe for 3 weeks, what could be any better?

Had an interesting conversation last night. A friend sent me an email, saying she was going to watch her "show", and then go to bed early...on the eve of my big day..no words of wisdom? So I called her quickly, she talked briefly then said, I have to go my show is on. I could not believe it! What is more important..a tv show, that you can download later, or in today's day and age pvr...or a friend getting ready for a big day?

It made me think of a cbc radio announcers comment a while back; she had overheard a conversation between a young woman and an elderly woman. the elderly woman was waiting for the bus to go home from the clinic, and the young woman offered her a ride...the elderly woman said, that it would be lovely and could she stay for tea...the young woman responded...sorry, but oprah is on and I dont want to miss it! The elderly lady got a very sad and dissappointed look on her face, but agreed to the ride home...in this media centred society, people cannot take time out for what is important..reminds me of a book " The Three questions" by Jon J. Muth. Everyone should read it, and then sit and reflect on how they have treated others around them.

"When is the best time to do things? Who is the most important one? What is the right thing to do?"

It's kind of like the golden rule...but even a little deeper. I think we could all become better people if we live our lives based on the three questions.

I have a call for this afternoon to go to one of my favourite schools. I call it " My happy place"! It is a great school, but what makes it great are the people who work there and the kids, it really feels like a family, and I always feel at home. Looking forward to a great day!
