how does one blog properly?

So I'm thinking, I've been doing very well with keeping up on posts, but I want to add music and other things, but I have no clue! I figured out how to change the background and I know how to add my own pictures, but how do I make my blog beautiful like others I have seen? How do I make it unique and inviting? If you have suggestions let me know.
